MAKING YOUR TRAVELLING PHOTOS MEMORABLE

Travel is something so special and is experienced uniquely to every individual. To capture the emotion of any experience through the lens isn't easy and requires somewhat of a conscious mindset. Making people re-live these moments through your photos is the ultimate goal...to revoke the intended emotion in a viewer from a two dimensional image is what makes photography the best art form. Here is the seven step process to making your travelling photos memorable!

1. Bring your camera everywhere you go. Even if you're just going out for dinner or taking a walk, you just never know what photo opportunity lies around the corner.

2. Don't be afraid to ask someone to take a photo for you. Yes it can seem daunting at first...going up to a random person and asking if they can take a photo of you while you look off into the sunset. Not that I know from personal experience...

3. Always make sure you have your camera on the right setting. The setting can make or break a photo. If you have a new camera, or have never really ventured past the automatic setting, then start experimenting! Don't believe that setting makes a difference? Take a photo of the same thing on every setting and see the differences for yourself!

4. Take LOTS of photos. When you see something you think will make a great photo, take 10 of them. Trust me, you will have a favourite, and you will thank me later.

5. Get creative with editing. I personally love using the app Snapseed for my photos, to brighten shadows and cancel yellow tones in white places.

6. People are your best subject. There is nothing more fascinating about a photo with people. Taking photos of family and friends is one thing, but as weird as this sounds, strangers are so much more interesting. The people are what create the true atmosphere of a place.

7. ALWAYS make sure your camera is in focus. The biggest rookie error possible, is to have a photo out of focus that wasn't intended to be. Sure, if you're trying to get that 2011 tumblr bokeh effect on your photos, thats fine...not really actually.
