Welcome to my first blog post! Travel is wonderful, it is the only thing you buy that makes you richer after all. Although, jetlag can be a downer, especially when you want to fully explore your fresh, new surroundings. In the excitement of my trip around Europe, I have decided to share with you 5 ways to prevent and get over jetlag that I have found particularly helpful over the years.
PACK IN ADVANCE
By packing a week or so prior to your vacation, you have already helped yourself greatly. Being organised provides you with a stress free state of mind that allows you to focus on the more exciting aspect of travelling.
DRINK DRINK DRINK (water I mean)
When going on any flight, whether it is 3 hours or 24 hours, staying hydrated is a must. The air on planes is often quite dry, causing dehydration and flaky skin. Water can prevent both of these, making it easier to doze off in a comfortable state.
ADJUST TO YOUR NEW TIMEZONE WHILST FLYING
I know that this one seems hard, but to ease jetlag, you’re going to have to resist your body clock’s urge to sleep. I am not one to follow his rule strictly, but the best you can do is hold on until you really have to sleep. Perhaps even change the time on your watch and phone to the time of your destination before boarding the flight to be better prepared.
MAKE YOURSELF COMFORTABLE
Wear some loose fitting, stretchy clothing that will not only keep you comfy, but warm during the flight, as most airlines turn the temperature down when in flight. Something that I love is a good neck pillow. These things can make sleeping a whole lot better. Also, don’t wear any jewellery that will dig into you whilst trying to sleep.
BRING HEADPHONES
Bring a good pair of noise resistant earphones or headphones. There is nothing worse than that one baby that doesn't stop crying the whole ride. In flight, earphones can have multiple uses, like cancelling out background noise while sleeping, watching movies and listening to your favourite tunes.
I hope these couple of tips help to make your trip a tad better next time you fly!
